Removing the Old Face Frame to Keep Counter Overhang

There’s a concern with some customers that if they use our refacing process, with 3/4” thick frames, they’ll lose the countertop overhang. The overhang is the part of the countertop that hangs over the cabinet drawer fronts. We can keep this overhang by removing the old face frame from the cabinet box. The following photos show how we do this.

The old face frame is removed with the help of a pry-bar and hammer. Some come off easier than others.

We then screw pine strips to the sides of the cabinet box.

Finally, we secure the new face frame to the cabinet box by screwing it on using the pine strips.
